MoreThe North Carolina State University, Student and Other Organizations, Phi Zeta Honor Society, Psi Chapter Records contain brochures, histories, a membership list, and an induction ceremony program with accompanying powerpoint file. Materials range in date from 1984 to 2017. The Honor Society of Phi Zeta began at Cornell University in 1925, with the first meeting occurring in 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. Soon after, several other chapters formed. The name derives from the Latin "Philozoi," meaning "love for animals." The object of the Society, as laid out in the Constitution, is "to recognize and promote scholarship and research in matters pertaining to the welfare and disease of animals." Meetings are held annually in conjunction with the AVMA Convention and two research awards are sponsored per year to help fund lectures at different chapters. Membership is open to veterinary professionals as well as students.North Carolina State University chartered the Psi Chapter in 1984.
