The Gregory A. Lewbart Papers is comprised of files representing Dr. Gregory Lewbart’s veterinary work, research, teaching, and professional development activities. The collection includes clinical documents, research materials, correspondence, news clippings, documentation from publishing processes, administrative documents, photographs, and teaching files. Most of the files are from his work at North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and his work in the larger veterinary community. Additionally, some files pertain to his education and prior work experience. Gregory Aldo Lewbart (b. March 2, 1959) is a veterinarian of aquatic animals and terrestrial invertebrates and reptiles. Dr. Lewbart received a B.A. in biology from Gettysburg College in 1981, an M.S. in biology with a concentration in marine biology from Northeastern University in 1985, and a VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. In 1993, he joined the faculty of North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) as Professor of Aquatic Animal Medicine. In 2016, Lewbart became the Assistant Department Head for the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Clinical Sciences. Less

The Greyhound Network News was published from 1992 to 2008. The collection contains 57 issues, which includes Volumes 1- 14. Joan Eidinger established the Greyhound Network News and was an anti-greyhound racing activist who partnered with the Greyhound Protection League. Joan Eidinger established the Greyhound Network News in 1992 and continued publishing the bulletin until 2008. The Groz-Beckert Portfolio of Print Reproductions Related to the History of the Knitting Industry contain reproductions of engravings mainly from Denis Diderot's Encyclopedia of Trades and Industry, first published in 1763. There are two engravings that are not from the Encyclopedia. The engravings depict scenes of workers in factories, shops, and mills, usually producing apparel. The portfolio dates to circa 1974. Denis Diderot was a prominent philosopher during the Enlightenment. His most famous work was the Encyclopedia ("Encyclopedie"), a massive, multi-volume compilation of world knowledge richly illustrated with engravings. The Encyclopedia was groundbreaking in its inclusion of the "mechanical arts," or crafts and trades, as exemplified in these engravings.This portfolio was produced by the company Groz-Beckert, a company that manufactures needles for textile production. This collection contains architectural drawings and specifications, 1928-1977, documenting the works of William Henley Deitrick and his successor, Guy E. Crampton. Included are Deitrick's competition winning design for Needham Broughton High School (1928), his modernist Carolina County Club (1948), the prize winning Dorton Arena (with Matthew Nowicki, 1950 to 1951), and public housing pojects for the Raleigh Housing Authority. Crampton's designs include several buildings for Elon College (1965), the Wake Forest College Stadium (1966), numerous projects for the Wachovia Bank & Trust Co., and many public school buildings. The specifications are for buildings designed by Guy E. Crampton and Associates, including the Wake Forest College Stadium and public schools. William Henley Deitrick was born in Danville, Virginia, in 1895. He graduated from Wake Forest College in 1916. Then he worked as a high school principal for a year in Georgia. During World War I, Deitrick served as a second lieutenant in the United States Army . After the war, he worked as a building contractor from 1919 to 1922. He entered Columbia University, New York in 1922 and studied architecture there until 1924. In 1926 he began practicing architecture. During his professional career Deitrick earned many distinctions. He sold his firm to associate Guy E. Crampton upon his retirement in 1959. Guy Edwin Crampton, Jr., was born in Washington, D.C. on 19 September 1913. From 1934 to 1940 he was a draftsman in the Supervising Architect's Office of the Federal Works Agency. He graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor of architecture in 1939. Between 1940 and 1949 Crampton worked for several different architectural firms. In 1950 he became an associate of William Henley Deitrick and Associates. In 1959 the firm changed its name to Guy E. Crampton and Associates with Crampton as a general partner. Crampton retired in 1976. Less

This collection contains publications authored, edited and/or designed by H. Th. Wijdeveld and that had been collected by Jim Brandt when he was a student at the NC State College School of Design and Wijdeveld was a visiting lecturer. Also included are photographs of Wijdeveld, work Brandt did in Wijdeveld's classes, and newsclippings. Hendricus Theodore Wijdeveld (1885-1987) was a Dutch architect, editor, graphic designer. typographer, and book designer. In addition, he was known for his designs for theater sets, costumes, and furniture. He edited the groundbreaking design-oriented magazine Wendingen, published 1918-1931. During the 1949-1950 academic year, he was a visiting professor at NC State College's School of Design, and Jim Brandt was one of his students. The H. Thomas Kearney Papers contain materials related to the Transition program conducted by North Carolina State University during the 1970s. The collection includes promotional materials, program descriptions, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reports, and film rental receipts as well as materials, such as a script and slides, that relate to a student-produced performance based on readings from diaries, letters, and contemporary newspaper accounts dealing with North Carolina's involvement in the Civil War. H. Thomas Kearney was an instructor in the History Department of North Carolina State University from 1970 to 1978.Kearney was involved with Transition, a program conducted by North Carolina State University during the 1970s and beyond. Billed as “an alternative freshman year,” the Transition program brought together about fifty freshmen for a small-scale group learning experience. The collection contains two commissions presented to Harlan Craig Brown for the ranks of Captain and Major in the United States Army Officers' Reserve Corps, in 1952 and 1953, respectively. Also included are typescripts of speeches by Brown, personal correspondence, militray medals and cards, and class reunion letter and photographs. Harlan Brown began his career at the NC State University library in 1936, where he later served as Libraries Director. From 1942 to 1946, Brown took a leave of absence to serve in World War II as an officer. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in the United States Army Reserve Officer Corps on November 28, 1952, and Major on October 1, 1953. Less

The Harrie T. Lindeberg Drawings of the Ellsleigh Estate contain plans, elevations, sections, and details of elements such as staircases, windows, and fireplaces. The collection also includes specifications and some correspondence between Lindeberg and the original owner Robert Lee Ellis and with interior designer Ernesta Beaux. The bulk of the materials range in date from 1925 to 1929. A small amount of materials date from 2002 and 2020. Harrie (H.T.) Lindeberg (1879-1959) was a New York architect who designed country estates for clients from New York to Illinois to Texas to North Carolina. He worked with McKim, Mead and White early in his career and later opened his own firm with his associate Lewis Colt Albro. He designed houses mostly in Beaux Arts or Georgian revival styles. Less

Dr. Harriet Stubbs earned her B.A. in biology and education and her M.S.T. in biology from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. She earned her Ph.D. in 1982 from the University of Minnesota. Her work focused on professional development opportunities for educators as well as the information and dissemination of current research in the environmental sciences. She was the Executive Director of the Acid Rain Foundation, Inc., for fifteen years and the principal investigator for the SCI-LINK and GLOBE-NET projects at NC State University. Stubbs was a faculty member at NC State University beginning in 1988, and was recognized in 1990 as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She is a Charter member of the Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension at NC State University. The Harriet Stubbs Papers document Dr. Stubbs' extensive work in environmental education and extension at North Carolina State University. The Harris and Pyne Records contain drawings, project files, photographs, and personal files documenting the professional activities of the Harris and Pyne architectural and engineering firm and its predecessor firms H. Raymond Weeks, Inc., Atwood and Weeks, and Atwood and Nash. The collection is arranged into four series: Drawings, Project Files, Photographic Materials, and Personal Files. Drawings include original pencil drawings, blueprints, and other reproductions. Project files includes various materials relating to projects, including a scrapbook, newsclippings, a financial recordbook, and supplemental documents to projects. Photographic materials includes professional black and white photographs of projects. Original documentation for many of the buildings and projects of these architecture firms is no longer in existence. Lastly, personal files include certificates, membership cards, biographical notes and obituary notes. Harris and Pyne was an architectural and engineering firm in Durham, North Carolina, from about 1958 to the 1990s, headed by engineer Wilton E. Harris and architect George C. Pyne, Jr. Its predecessor firms were T. C. Atwood (prior to 1920), Atwood & Nash, Architects and Engineers (early 1920s-early 1930s), Atwood & Weeks (1930s-1942), and H. Raymond Weeks, Inc. Fox Memorabilia and Papers include memorabilia from North Carolina State College and University, as well as papers and other documents, such as basketball statistics, college yearbooks, a eulogy, and a World War II era ROTC program. Harrison William Fox (1919-2007) grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1941 he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction option, from North Carolina State College (later University). He also received degrees from the other higher education institutions. He was an engineer, contractor and builder, and financial institution executive. The Harry Barton Architectural Drawings consists of seven blueprint drawings of the S. H. Tomlinson House, located at 403 Hillcrest Drive, High Point, North Carolina. These architectural drawings include floorplans, elevations, and building details, and they date from 1923-1924. Harry Barton was born in 1876 and died in 1937. He was an important North Carolina architect based in Greensboro. Barton worked in the Tudor Revival style for several residential designs. He also designed many educational and civic buildings in Georgian Revival and Neoclassical styles, including buildings on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Less

The Harry Charles Kelly Papers include correspondence, articles, reports, speeches, awards, photographs, artifacts and other items related to Kelly's career as a physicist, science administrator, and educator. Harry Charles Kelly (1908-1976), physicist, educator, science administrator and author, was educated in physics at Lehigh University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1945, Kelly accepted the position of Chief of Science and Technology for the Special Projects Unit of the United States Army. His work helped strengthen cooperative scientific ventures between Japan and the United States. Kelly later worked for the National Science Foundation and, resuming his academic career, served as Provost at North Carolina State University. Less

Most items are photocopies of clippings about award of contracts or progress of construction on projects for which McGee was the architect. Most of the projects were in Johnston County, North Carolina, and a few were in neighboring counties. These included houses, shopping centers, hospitals, schools, and other public buildings. Harry Max Markowitz was born on August 24, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. Harry Sheldon Welby, a consultant for pistachic culture for Standard Oil Company, from 1920 until at least 1952, was a graduate of the Biltmore Forest School. He was a member of the Northern Nut Growers Association, an organization seeking to develop better nut trees. The Harry Sheldon Welby Diaries and Photograph contains two diaries written by Harry S. Welby in 1910-1912 and one photograph of Harry S. Welby and Dr. Carl A. Schenck circa 1911-1912. The content of the diaries range from discussions between Mr. Welby and Dr. Schenck on topics covering the forest industry to Mr. Welby's research of various types of wood specimens. Less
