Included are brochures, budget records, correspondence, grant proposals, occasional papers, photographs, reports, questionnaires, speeches, and surveys. There are several folders on an Ethics and Decision-Making in the Textile Industry Study and a Science and Theology Study-Research Group. Files on the Experimental Study of Religion and Society also exist here, as well as on its funding from a Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation grant. In 1968 the University Program on Science and Society was established. It was a cooperative program among faculty and students whose purpose was to provide the colleges and universities with a means of focusing curricula and departmental resources upon major social problems related to the growth of science and technology. North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Duke University, St. Augustine's College, and Shaw University participated in the program.

MoreThis collection contains reports, grant materials, white papers, award materials, and other records from the North Carolina State University Office of the Vice Chancellor for Extension, Engagement and Economic Development. The collection also contains meeting minutes, agendas, and memoranda from the Outreach and Extension Council. The North Carolina State University Office of Extension, Engagement and Economic Development (EEED), previously known as the Office of Extension and Engagement, provided leadership and vision for University partnerships with external communities in the land-grant tradition. Separate from the Agricultural Extension Service (later the Cooperative Extension Services), a Division of Extension existed at North Carolina State College (later University) as far back as 1924. The office closed in 2011 with the retirement of Vice Chancellor James Zuiches.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at North Carolina State University was formerly known as Bursar, Treasurer, Controller, and Business Manager. The mission statement of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration is "By stewarding financial assets, optimizing physical resources and investing in human capital, we will work with university constituencies to position NC State as a premier land grant university and world-class institution." As of 2020, the Office consists of the following units: Budget and Resource Management, Campus Enterprises, Environmental Health and Public Safety,Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, and Real Estate and Development. These units report to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business, and they provide infrastructure services essential to supporting the students, faculty and staff of the university. In 2015, the name was changed from the Office of Finance and Business to the Office of Finance and Administration.

Materials range in date from 1973 to 2022. The North Carolina Sea Grant began in 1970. Six years later, it became the nation's 12th Sea Grant College Program. Now the university-based program is part of a network of thirty Sea Grant programs that wrap the shores of the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and Great Lakes. With its emphasis on solid, peer-reviewed scientific research coupled with outreach, Sea Grant has gained a reputation as a reliable source for valid solutions and timely information about our coast. Today, Sea Grant provides a holistic approach to a wide range of topics that have direct impacts not only along the North Carolina coast, but also across the state and the country.

Records date from 1950 to 1979. The College of Management at North Carolina State University was created in 1992, and its MBA program was established in 2002. The history of economics, business, and management education at North Carolina State University goes back to the early 1900s. A School of Science and Business existed from 1923 until the 1930s. After this date some economics and business courses were available in the Basic Division and later the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (later College of Humanities and Social Sciences, known as CHASS). Agricultural economics courses were available in the School (later College) of Agriculture and Life Sciences. In the early 1970s, the university again began offering undergraduate degrees in business management and accounting through the Department of Economics and Business in CHASS. In December 2010 the college received a naming gift which resulted in it being called the Lonnie C. Poole, Jr. College of Management.

MoreThe Historic Architecture Research Project Records contain drawings and project files by students in the Department of Architecture, School of Design, at North Carolina State University. Included are measured drawings, photographs, negatives, field notes and sketches, historical information, and essays. The majority of the projects document historic buildings in North Carolina. Twenty-one other states and the District of Columbia are represented, as are Germany, Mexico, and Colombia. Other course-related materials include syllabi, correspondence, uncompleted projects, and a petition to eliminate the course requirement. The correspondence series includes correspondence of professors in the North Carolina State University Department of Architecture, including Cecil D. Elliott, Henry L. Kamphoefner, Vernon Shogren, and Lawrence Wodehouse, with North Carolina State University architecture students, various North Carolina clerks of court, Charles E. Peterson of the National Park Service, and George S. Koyl, Moira B. Mathieson, and Earl H. Reed of the American Institute of Architects. Between 1951 and 1969, many architecture students at North Carolina State University completed summer projects documenting historic buildings and districts. Beginning in 1959, these projects were submitted to the National Park Service's Historic American Buildings Survey. The project was formalized with the creation of the undergraduate course, "Historic Architecture Research" (ARC 300), which was required for admission to the fifth year architecture program. In 1964, students undertook a project to record the town of Beaufort in Carteret County, N.C. Participants created maps, measured drawings of buildings, and an historical analysis of the town's development.

The Department of Social Studies was established in 1947 as part of the Basic Division, and offered courses for engineers that emphasized the connections between liberal studies and science and technology. George A. Gullette served as Head of the Department from its founding in 1947 until his death in 1969. In 1970, the Department of Social Studies became the Division of University Studies, with John R. Lambert, Jr. as Acting Head.

The Staff Senate is an advisory body to the North Carolina State University Chancellor. It first met on August 2, 1995, and it first adopted its bylaws on September 6 of that year.

MoreThe records of the Pi Alpha Chapter (North Carolina State's chapter) of Pi Tau Sigma include correspondence, financial records, membership rosters, meeting minutes, and other general information about the chapter, its members, and its activities. This subgroup also contains some materials distributed by the national office of Pi Tau Sigma, primarily issues of their annual publication, The Condenser of Pi Tau Sigma. Pi Tau Sigma is the international mechanical engineering honor society, the purpose of which is to establish a means of fellowship and communication between individuals who study and practice mechanical engineering. North Carolina State's chapter, the Pi Alpha Chapter, was established in 1942, and is open to mechanical engineering students who either rank in the top 25% of their class as juniors, or top 33% as seniors. Graduate students in mechanical engineering at NC State whose undergratuate universities did not have a chapter of Pi Tau Sigma are also allowed to join. The Pi Alpha Chapter remained active at NC State as of 2008.

MoreThe records of the North Carolina State University chapter of Abraxas, Inc. inclue meeting minutes, personnel and financial information, other administrative records, and topical files of pamphlets on issues including drug and alchohol use, pregnancy, suicide and depression, study habits, and general sexual matters. Volunteer peer counselors provided information and advice on these and other topics to students on campus. The North Carolina State University chapter of Abraxas, Inc. was founded in 1972 to provide peer counseling, free of charge, to students on campus. Counseling was done both in person and over the phone, and Abraxas also worked to distribute factual literature on these same topics around campus. The chapter remained active until at least 1975.

What is known in 2008 as the Agri-Life Council was founded sometime during or before 1922 at N. C. State as the Agriculture Club; later, the name was changed to the Agricultural Council, and then to the Agri-Life Council.
