Included are materials that document Sederoff's role in the Forest Biotechnology Group and the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at North Carolina State University. Materials range from 1953 to 2016. Ron (Ronald Ross) Sederoff is an emeritus faculty member for the College of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He previously served as Distinguished University Professor and Edwin F. Conger Professor of Forestry and Environmental Resources, Associate Member of the Department of Genetics and the Department of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry, as well as co-director of the Forest Biotechnology Group. His earlier research interests included mutational mechanisms, gene expression, and chromosome structure in bacteriophage T4 and Drosophila. His interest in large woody plants resulted from studies on the mitochondrial DNA of maize. His more recent research interests relate to studying the genomics of forest trees, genetic regulation of lignin biosynthesis, molecular mechanisms in the formation of the plant cell wall, and gene expression in differentiating wood.
