Subhash K. Batra began his education in India and earned advanced degress from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the U.S. He joined the NC State University textiles faculty in 1977. Batra conducted ground breaking work on ring spinning with Mishu I. Zeidman as well as Dr. Tushar K. Ghosh, also of North Carolina State University, in the 1980s.
The Subhash K Batra Collection of Textiles Fibers Literature contains copies of publications dealing with ramie production, particularly in the United States, and several of Mishu Zeidman's articles, as well as his doctoral dissertation. Zeidman's publications are in Romanian.
The collection is composed of two series. The first series is composed of publications dealing with cultivation of Ramie. The second series is composed of reprints from the Romanian journal Buletinul Institutului Politehnic of Mishul Zeidman's work and a copy of Zeidman's doctoral dissertation.
