What is Zotero? How does it compare to RefWorks or EndNote?

Zotero is citation management software: use it to save references from the Libraries' catalog or article databases as you do your research. Use it to organize your citations and generate a bibliography when you write your paper or thesis.

Zotero works as a browser extension for Firefox. You save your citations within the browser, with an option to sync online so you can access them from anywhere. RefWorks and EndNote are alternative citation managers, but work in different ways. RefWorks saves your citations online, and EndNote is software you can install on your computer.

Zotero is recommended because it is free to everyone and makes it easier to save articles, books, and websites than any other tool.
