Is there any way that I can get access to the veterinary literature through NC State if I am not an affiliate?

The Veterinary Medicine Library, along with NC State University Libraries, offers several ways for non-NC State affiliates to get access to our collection of journal articles.

First, the NC State University Libraries provides Tripsaver document delivery to non-NC State affiliates for a small fee. The Veterinary Medicine Library offers a reduced fee of $8/article for veterinary professionals in North Carolina.

Another option is through our Friends of the Libraries group. If you are a member of that organization (membership levels vary, but generally start at $150/year for individuals), you can purchase (for $50/year) a borrowing card that includes 24/7 access to a limited selection of our online journal collection. Those limits are determined by the journal publishers, so how useful you find this access will depend on the types of journals you are generally interested in. We have found in the past that many veterinary journal publishers do not make their journals available to Friends of the Libraries members, so this type of access tends to not be useful for veterinary researchers. However, you can reach out to the Friends of the Libraries for a free 7-day trial membership to see for yourself.

The third option is to come to the Veterinary Medicine Library (or other Libraries location) where guests can use our computer terminals to access our online collection. Check our hours and availability before you come.
