How do I use the Veterinary Medicine Library's Smart Locker?

The Veterinary Medicine Library has a Smart Locker that allows library users to pick up reserved library materials 24/7 using a self-service kiosk. 

How do I reserve library materials? 

From the library catalog, you can place a hold on a book by clicking on "Request Item". Additionally, you can borrow from other libraries or transfer items between NC State library locations. If we don't have what you need, Tripsaver will get it for you through interlibrary loan.  

How will I know my book is ready for pickup?

You will receive an email notification from NC State University Libraries with the subject line "Great news! Your library item is available for pickup". 

How do I use the Smart Locker?

1. Request an item, and select the Veterinary Medicine Library as the pickup location.
2. When you are notified that your item is ready, visit the Smart Locker anytime 24/7. 
3. Swipe your NC State ID card or enable the keypad to enter your ID number.
4. Your list of items will be displayed, and a locker door will automatically open.
5. Take your items, close the locker, and enjoy!

Please note that Smart Locker pickup is unavailable for oversized library books. 

Where can I find the Smart Locker?

The Smart Locker is located on the lower level of the CVM Main Building near the Veterinary Medicine Library's front doors.   

Where can I return items?

You can return library books in the Smart Locker’s return bin, or any NC State library service desk or drop box. Oversized materials, course reserves, and tech items should be returned to the Veterinary Medicine Library's service desk.  

CVM Main Building Access:

While the Smart Locker is accessible when the library is closed, access to the CVM Main Building is restricted to CVM affiliates weekdays after 5 pm, on the weekends, and during holidays. To request building access, please call the library's service desk at 919-513-6218.
