How do I organize Items in Course Reserves for a course I'm teaching?

Sorting

If your items are not in the order you'd like them to display in, you can rearrange them by selecting “Sort Materials” on the far right of the button line at the top of the screen. Just fill in a number for each item’s place in the desired order under “Order,” and select “Save Order.” Number 1 will be at the top of the page.

Headings

Headings can make the page a little more organized and easier to read, or hide certain items until after a certain date in the semester. They’re basically added as empty items, and can be added from either the class’s reserves home page or the “Sort Materials” page via the “Add Heading” button. Just fill in a title such as Early Comedies or Integration Techniques that will classify some of your reserve items, specify the date you’d like the heading and its materials to become visible to students, and click “Save Heading.” These can also be sorted on the “Sort Materials” page. To assign an item to a heading, use the “Edit Item” page.

Editing

Editing an item can help you add more accurate citation data, or correct mistakes in either an item’s information or its title. You can also change the heading an item is listed under from this page. Just click “Edit” on the left side of the item you’d like to modify. Not all the information on the Edit screen is required; just fill in what you know.
