Wolf Tales Open Recording Day: Capturing Voices of the Pack

As part of the NCSU Libraries Special Collections Research Center, the Wolf Tales mobile oral history program documents the diverse voices of the NC State community, past and present.

On Monday October 30, 11am-3pm, we invite students, alumni, faculty, staff, and other members of the NC State community to make a recording and add your voice to the historical record of our community.  One to two people per session are welcome to drop in or sign up ahead of time for a 15-minute session in our Wolf Tales recording station in the Talley Student Union, room 2108A (just next to the Cultural Hearth).  Please sign up at this link.

Wolf Tales especially seeks to gather diverse and historically underrepresented voices of students, past and present. Open recording days are a chance to tell your own story of life at NC State, to add to the archives for current and future generations, and ensure that your voice is heard and remembered as part of our community’s history. Wolf Tales recordings are archived and shared through the growing Wolf Tales digital archive, and participants receive a copy of their recording to keep and share as they wish.

Here are some sample questions to get you thinking, and share the stories that you feel are important to be told:

• When did you first come to NC State? Who or what led you here?
• How would you describe yourself and your community at NC State?
• What has been your proudest moment in your time at NC State?
• What has been most challenging?
• Is there a place on campus that has special meaning for you?
• Is there someone at NC State whom you would like to thank? How has that person impacted you, or the community?
• What changes do you hope to see in the NC State community in the future? What do you hope stays the same?
