About This Event

Explore 360-degree video virtual reality experiences of recreation and leisure destinations from around the state of North Carolina (created by Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management students at NC State). In the Innovation Studio, you'll be able to experience these works in virtual reality headsets and also learn about the behind-the-scenes work that went into creating them (using cameras available for checkout at the Libraries!). The Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery will feature immersive 360-degree recordings of Raleigh-area destinations to relax and recharge before finals week. This will be a drop-in session and the course instructor, Nathan Williams, and students will be available to answer questions about the project and how 360-degree video can be integrated into your course or personal project!

This semester's projects will be incorporated into an ongoing exhibit, which can be viewed before and after the event in the Innovation Studio at Hill Library.

A visitor views an exhibit on a computer, wearing attached headphones.
Students' 360 videos are viewable on VR headsets as well as at computer kiosks, as seen above.
A large whirligig stands tall above a central town partk, with signage and sidewalks in view.
