How do we think, talk, and write about the climate crisis and climate anxiety? Award-winning author Jenny Offill will read from and discuss Weather, a novel that also considers all of these questions, along with this central dilemma: "how do we keep passivity at bay?" (Parul Seghal, the New York Times). Offill will be joined in conversation by bestselling novelist and short story writer Jill McCorkle (Old Crimes) and Kathie Dello, State Climatologist of North Carolina and Co-Director of NOAA's Carolina Climate Adaptation Partnership.
This program is presented by NC State’s Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs, NC State's Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, NC State Climate Solutions Collaborative, and the NC State University Libraries. Free and open to the public but pre-registration is requested. Copies of Weather and Jill McCorkle's new book Old Crimes can be purchased on-site for signing.
