Purpose
To support the NC State University Libraries' nuclear and mechanical engineering collections in all formats, with a priority for materials related to the power industry, advanced nuclear reactors, and advanced small modular reactors.
About the donor
Steve Rea majored in Mechanical Engineering at NC State, receiving his BS in 1980 and MS in 1986. During his time at NC State, Steve was a soccer player, served as Student Body Treasurer, and also headed the student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the most active chapter in the Southeast during his time.
Steve and his wife, Phyllis, became Life Members of the NC State University Libraries’ Friends of the Libraries in April 2015. Steve is also a participant in the Libraries’ Student Leadership Initiative, due to his leadership roles mentioned above as well as multiple honors and awards including the Golden Chain Society, and The Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Steve and Phyllis wish to further support the Libraries through this endowment that will help to ensure, in perpetuity, the quality of resources available at the Libraries for NC State Mechanical Engineering students.
