Popular medicine in America, 1800-1900

Electronic reproduction of materials documenting the history of popular remedies and treatments in 19th century America, from the collections of the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The selected materials are chiefly primary source materials. The resource includes texts by Samuel Hahnemann, Samuel Thomson and William Buchan and works influenced by their ideas, and information about the firms of Seabury and Johnson, Hoods, and Ayers.
