About Organizational Strategy

Organizational Strategy leads a comprehensive program to measure, understand, and maximize the Libraries’ value and contributions to the university and the communities we serve. It applies portfolio management tools and frameworks; oversees the collection, stewardship, quality control, analysis, and visualization of data and performance measures; and provides management information to help adaptively plan, forecast change, identify opportunities, and guide decisions and priorities that achieve strategic alignment and help consistently realize our vision as a competitive advantage for teaching, learning, and research at NC State.

Organizational Strategy staff provide expertise and consult with colleagues throughout the Libraries on both qualitative and quantitative approaches to measuring the library’s impact and effectiveness. This includes understanding user needs and experiences, assisting with resource and capacity planning, helping departments develop product and service roadmaps, and examining ways to leverage and mindfully develop the Libraries’ diverse programmatic and technological investments. Organizational Strategy applies data-informed knowledge and insight for continuous improvement in all that we offer. They lead and coordinate library-wide portfolio and project management, and assess, monitor, and report in order to optimize results and to inform planning and execution at all levels, from overarching strategic principles to daily library operations. As needed, the department will develop staff toolkits for assisting with workflow analysis, project lifecycles, and ongoing assessment. The staff liaise with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning and with university assessment and accreditation leaders, and they prepare responses to major surveys and a variety of formal reports for both internal and external use.
