"Black box" theater design for high-definition visualization and simulation, offering seamless 270-degree immersive projection on three walls for a total of 80 linear feet of display surfac;, 3-D capability; a professional zoned audio system; and cameras for real-time video capture, broadcast, and collaboration. The room can meet a variety of needs, including technology-rich interactive learning in small groups; large-scale, high-definition visualization and simulation; command/control room simulation; immersive interactive computing; game research; "big data" decision theater; and comparative social computing. Its flexible infrastructure is designed to grow over time with the rapid advancements that are being made in visualization and display techonologies.
Reservation and Use Guidelines:
May be reserved up to six months in advance by NC State faculty members and graduate students for research or curricular activities for periods ranging from 1 hour to a full day.
Food and drink are allowed in other spaces in Hunt Library but not in this room.
This room offers display capabilities that may require some special preparation and testing prior to a scheduled activity. To learn about these capabilities, users may request a consultation.
15-minute grace period for arrival, before the space becomes available for other users.
Rooms cannot be reserved or held by placing personal belongings in them. Unattended items will be removed.
The NCSU Libraries reserves the right to change a user’s reservation, if necessary, and will provide as much advance notice as possible should this be necessary.
Users are requested to cancel reservations in advance if their plans change, so that the rooms can be available to others
