Interview with Don Collins, landscape architect, educator, and volunteer firefighter

Don Collins graduated from North Carolina State University School (now College) of Design in 1968 with a degree in landscape architecture, and earned his master’s from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1969. Over the last four decades, he has run two, if not three, illustrious careers simultaneously. In addition to awards earned over more than thirty years as a volunteer firefighter, Don was accepted as an ASLA Fellow in 2003, and in 2006 he received the Jot D. Carpenter Teaching Medal.
