The Learning Commons at the Hill Library is an active, comfortable space where students can discover, create, and collaborate with peers, a space that inspires them to be more productive and successful.
The Learning Commons offers a variety of spaces and technologies:
- Over 100 computer workstations (both Mac and PC)
- Moveable whiteboards
- Special workstations for data and visualization, engineering, and digital media production
- Reservable study rooms (1145, 1145A, 1145B) with large displays
- Print reference materials and the Popular Reading Collection

How do I get there?
Brickyard Entrance
Elevator
- Enter the Hill Library from the Brickyard entrance.
- Go through the library gates and turn right.
- Continue towards the reading room and the elevator bay will be on your left.
- Take the elevator to the first floor.
- Turn right after exiting the elevator bay and follow the balcony around to the right.
- Continue straight through the lobby.
- The Learning Commons is in front of you.
Stairs
- Enter the Hill Library from the Brickyard entrance.
- Go through the library gates.
- Take the main stairs up to the first floor.
- Turn right past the lobby.
- The Learning Commons is in front of you.
Hillsborough St. Entrance
Elevator or Stairs
- Enter the Hill Library from the Hillsborough St. entrance.
- Go straight through the gates and turn left.
- Continue down the hallway until you reach the stairs and elevator.
- Take the stairs or elevator to the first floor.
- Continue through the lobby.
