First Year Writing Program

The Libraries has enjoyed a long-standing and successful collaboration with the First Year Writing Program, assisting and advising with library research instruction. Please choose among the following options or contact Anne Burke, Undergraduate Instruction & Outreach Librarian, to customize a research instruction plan for your classes.

LOBO

LOBO: A web-based information literacy tutorial developed by the NCSU Libraries to provide baseline search skills for new library users.

  • This tutorial takes students through the entire research process and is a mandatory component of the First Year Writing Program.
Tutorials

Videos & Interactive Guides: A growing collection of videos and interactive guides to help students understand the research process and the mechanics of finding information.

Library Research Guides Research Guides: Library research guides to help novice users locate information related to disciplinary interests, popular topics of study, and special formats.

Schedule a Class Workshop Request Library Instruction: If you feel that your students have research needs which are not addressed by LOBO, a video tutorial, a tour, or a research guide, you may schedule a class workshop tailored to their specific needs.
