NC Geologic Maps

Georeferenced geologic Map overlaid with county boundaries

The NC Geologic Survey (NCGS) has scanned it's holdings of hundreds of geologic maps covering North Carolina. The originating sources for these maps are the USGS, NCGS, and theses and dissertations. The map images were georeferenced by NC State University Libraries and compressed into MrSID format as part of the NC Geospatial Data Archiving Project.

Metadata for each map file has been created and are included in this zipfile (1.3 MB).

Click here for a spreadsheet that lists the maps available. Formats include TIFF and SID, with world files. To acquire any of these maps, or for other questions about the project, contact Data Services.
