The records of the North Carolina State University Graduate Student Association (UGSA) contain their constitution and by-laws, meeting minutes, membership rosters, committee information, financial information, information for incoming graduate students, forms, and other general information about the Association and their activities. These records also include files from other committees and organizations on campus with which the UGSA interacted, and topical files on assorted issues the UGSA considered and/or addressed. Materials range in date from 1957 to 2007.

Historical Note
The North Carolina State University Graduate Student Association (UGSA) was formed on October 6, 1958, in order to give the graduate students a forum for discussion and action about those events in the college community which effect them. As the years have passed, the UGSA has grown in size and stature where it now considered by both administration and graduate students to be a very important part of the community. As of 2008, approximately 60% of all graduate majors have an active UGSA chapter, meaning that a representative regularly attends meetings and participates in committees. The goals of the UGSA, as stated in the constitution, are: to provide a contact point for the administration for graduate student interests; to represent graduate students in interests which affect them; to disseminate important information to graduate students; to provide a forum for discussion of important issues; and to provide services to the graduate student body. The UGSA remains active as of 2008.
