Material range in date from 1927 to 1992, though the bulk of the materials date from 1958 to 1984. Historical NoteThe North Carolina State University Faculty Club was founded in 1958 by members of the faculty who were interested in establishing a social organization specifically for faculty members. After obtaining a grant, the club was able to construct their own building (finished in 1963, and then known as the Faculty Club Facility), which is located on West Campus. The club hosted and promoted many social activities for faculty members and their families over the years, and in 1998 expanded their membership requirements to allow broader participation in the club by allowing staff members and alumni to also join. The name of the club was changed to the University Club, and their building was renamed the University Club Facility. Members of the club pay an initial fee to join the club, and then also contribute monthly dues. The University Club continues to be active as of 2008. Controlled Terms
