The unit's stated vision is to be instrumental in making an impact on society’s grand challenges through NC State’s emergence as a preeminent research university. The Office of Research and Innovation was previously known as the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development. Prior to 2011, the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development was first called the Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
