Most of the material dates from the 1970s to early 1980s. The Department of Adult Education at NC State University was created during the mid-1960s. In 1970 the name changed to the Department of Adult and Community College Education. In 2006 the department became Adult and Higher Education. In approximately 2010 or 2011 it became the Department of Leadership, Policy and Adult and Higher Education. As of 2018, it was renamed the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development.
