<p>The Potomac River Blue Plains Tobacco Warehouse, known through 1820 as the Blue Plains Tobacco Warehouse, seems to have been a tobacco warehouse located in the Washington, D.C., area. It was likely an intermediary between tobacco farmers and purchasers: farmers gave the tobacco that they produced to the warehouse, which would in turn sell the tobacco to customers for a portion of the profit. Further specific information about the company is unknown.</p>

<subject>farmers</subject>. It contains data from 1819 through 1834. The book is divided into two halves. One half contains information about "first-quality tobacco" and the other half contains information about "second-quality tobacco." The book includes the names of farmers, the date their tobacco was received, their mark (used to differentiate their tobacco from that of other farmers, and usually their initials), and the amount of tobacco received.</p>
