            <abstract id="ref2" label="Abstract">Two scrapbooks and four folders of material. These are a scrapbook compiled during Ruggles' student days at North Carolina State, which contains clippings and other items relating to academics, athletics, social events, and R.O.T.C., as well as a scrapbook compiled when Ruggles was Director of Extension at North Carolina State, which contains items relating to the extension program and short courses. Also included is correspondence, 1927-1928, regarding Ruggles' thesis and other materials relating to his Master's degree and thesis.</abstract>
            <abstract id="ref3" label="Abstract">Edward Wolfe Ruggles (1900-1982) graduated from North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University) in 1922. He was a member of the Electrical Engineering faculty, 1926-1928. Ruggles became Assistant Director of the College's Extension Division in 1928 and Director in 1934. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 1965.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Edward Wolfe Ruggles (1900-1982) graduated from North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University) in 1922. He was a member of the Electrical Engineering faculty, 1926-1928. Ruggles became Assistant Director of the College's Extension Division in 1928 and Director in 1934. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 1965.</p>

            <head>Scope and Content Note</head>
            <p>The collection contains two scrapbooks and four folders of material. A scrapbook compiled during Ruggles' student days at North Carolina State includes signatures; North Carolina State memorabilia (primarily news clippings) pertaining to academics (primarily Electrical Engineering), athletics (including school cheers), entertainment, community, and social events; scholarship information; personal notes; postcards, cards, and envelopes; Camp Knox R.O.T.C. book, 1921 (19th Co. 20, Co. G 1919-1920); Raleigh High school memorabilia; photographs including N.C. State vs. Guilford, campus scenes, Coach Fetzer, Gus Ripple, and Homewood; "The Sandman" - Southern Pines High School; infantry scorebook, 1921; and large charcoal drawings. A folder of loose items contains the Sandhill Farm Life School Constitution and a World War I photograph, 1918-1922.</p>
