Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I've found a book in the catalog with the location "Books by Request". How do I get the book?

Books By Request is a new (trial) program of the NCSU Libraries that seeks to better align book purchasing with documented needs of the campus community. Books identified for this program are listed in the library catalog and can be requested through the "request item" link in the catalog record. The book will be purchased for the library collection and will usually be available within 3-5 days of request. You will be notified when it is ready.

By avoiding purchasing many books that may end up never being used, Books By Request makes a much wider range of books findable by NC State users, and results in every book being a worthwhile investment.

This program is in addition to our other user-friendly services, including:

Tripsaver, whereby NCSU users may borrow needed materials from libraries both local and worldwide.
Suggest a Purchase whereby users may recommend items for library purchase.
