How do I find a biography or biographical information?

A good start is to search the NCSU Libraries Catalog. Type the name of the individual into the first search box (Search for Words) and change the pulldown to "In Subject Heading." Then, look to the left at the Subject: Genre refinement option to see if the heading "Biography" is offered.

You can also find summaries of biographical information in reference sources. For example, Dictionary of Literary Biography contains biographical information on literary authors. To help you identify which reference sources have biographical information on a particular person, search the Biography and Genealogy Master Index.
