Why can't I open the file after I download a data set from ICPSR?
Data sets resulting from research studies like those found at ICPSR are usually compressed when downloaded. You must use a decompression utility like WinZip to "unzip" them before the actual file(s) can be opened. (Frequently one compressed file will contain several regular files.) See our
